Luxembourg (known as Lëtzebuerg, Luxemburg, or Luxembourg in the official languages of Luxembourg, Luxembourgish, German, and French, respectively) is a small landlocked country in Western Europe that debuted in the Eurovision Song Contest in 1956. The debuting entries of “Ne crois pas” (eng. Do Not Believe) and “Les Amants de Minuit” (eng. Midnight Lovers) did not evolve into trophy. It was the fifth time of participation in 1961, when Luxembourg was crowned for the first time. With it, Luxembourg has built itself into the contest as some sort of powerhouse, never leaving the prime places. Another four attempts, and Luxembourg won its second trophy, unquestionably the most famous by France Gall.

The dark ages for this small landlocked country lasted until 1972, when the country won its third trophy with Vicky Leandros, and then, consequentially, the next year, winning the contest for the second time in a row. The 1980s were quite dark the further we went through, with the last trophy, the fifth victory, taking place in 1983. Luxembourg went down quite a lot at the expense of former Soviet nations and Warsaw Pact allies joining the contest, and since 1989, the country has averaged 18th place until it dropped from the competition indefinitely, citing the impossibility of winning the contest for such a small country with the ever-expanding format. It was the Eurovision Song Contest 2023 in Liverpool when the hosts informed the society about Luxembourg’s return to the contest after a 31-year hiatus.

Tali is set to compete for the Luxembourgish flag in 2024.
